Nine of the Desert Explorers spent March 21-24 hiking trails in the town of Prescott nestled among mountains & a few lakes. After lunch & checking into the hotel, we hiked the 2.5 miles at Thumb Butte, the icon of Prescott.
It was a nice treat to be in the woods for a change of landscape after so many trails in the open desert of Tucson.
At the top, we had nice views of the butte & the town of Prescott below.
Going up, we took a dirt path that was easier and less steep. Going down, we took the steeper paved path. It, too, gave us some nice views of the surrounding area.
It was a nice start to our trip.
