Day 2 was a true adventure! It was a beautiful 2 hour drive to the Gila Cliff Dwellings through trees with great views throughout the mountains and winding road up to the dwellings.
We stopped at the Visitor Center by the Gila River for a break. A bit of history about Geronimo was interesting as well as the small museum.
We hiked up through the forest to the Gila Cliff Dwellings, an amazing national monument.
We were fascinated as we explored the caves.
Started raining & even snowed before descending down to the rest of the scenic by-way loop back to town. Later, on the way to dinner, a small snow shower headed right towards our restaurant! When we came out later, 1/4 inch of snow was on the cars and truck! Unique fun was the order of the day.
